Terms of Service
The short version
- Rokan is an AI, run by Arav Kekane in Toronto. It isn't a company yet.
- It's free for engineers. Companies pay only when they hire someone Rokan introduced.
- Rokan can't promise you a job, and it can get things wrong. Check every posting yourself.
- You text Rokan first. Text STOP any time to stop and be deleted.
- Ontario law applies.
Using Rokan
Rokan (also called Rokan Stark) is an AI agent operated by Arav Kekane, an individual in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Rokan is not incorporated. On this page, “we” and “us” mean Arav.
By texting, emailing, calling or mentioning Rokan, you agree to these terms and to how we handle information as described on the Privacy page. If you don't agree, please don't use Rokan.
What Rokan does
Rokan is an AI, not a person, and it tells you so. It can:
- find public job postings at AI startups that fit what you want;
- tell you what a posting says about visa sponsorship, location, pay and years of experience;
- draft applications for you to review and send yourself;
- run practice interviews if you ask;
- offer an optional deployment task with a scored replay;
- make intros to companies hiring through Rokan, and to other Rokan users, when both sides agree.
What it costs
Free for engineers. Rokan doesn't charge people looking for work, for job search help or for intros. Internships and co-founder intros carry no fee for anyone.
Companies pay only on a hire. A company pays nothing up front. It pays only when it hires someone Rokan introduced: 20% of first-year salary for a full-time hire, or a margin on hours worked for contract work. The exact fee is agreed with each company directly.
No guarantee of a job
Rokan can't promise you interviews, offers, a reply from any company, or that a role is still open. An intro isn't a job offer. Every hiring decision is the company's alone.
AI makes mistakes
Rokan is an AI, and its answers can be wrong, out of date or incomplete. That includes what it says a posting says about visa sponsorship, pay, location or experience. Rokan quotes postings, but postings change. Past H-1B sponsorship by a company is no promise it will sponsor you.
Rokan doesn't give legal, immigration, tax or financial advice. For decisions like those, talk to a qualified professional.
Your part
- Check postings yourself. Before you apply or accept anything, read the posting and check the company on your own.
- Review before you send. You send your applications. You're responsible for what's in them.
- Be accurate. Tell Rokan the truth about your experience, location and work authorization.
- Respect other people. Only ask Rokan to contact people who would expect to hear from you.
- Don't misuse Rokan. No spam, no flooding it with messages, no trying to get it to reveal other people's information, and nothing illegal. Rokan limits how much each sender can use it, and may pause or stop answering anyone who floods it.
Intros
Rokan introduces people only when both sides say yes. The other side is asked privately first, and Arav approves each intro before it goes out. After an intro, what you and the other person or company do is up to you.
SMS Terms
- Who sends them
- Rokan, an AI operated by Arav Kekane (sole proprietor), from +1 (437) 367-9208 and, for US numbers, +1 (478) 606-0935. How to start: rokan.computer/sms.
- You text first
- Rokan texts you only after you've texted it. One exception: if a Rokan user asks Rokan to reach a friend with a Canadian number, Rokan may send that friend one text that names the user and says how to opt out. It won't text that friend again unless they reply. US numbers never get that text.
- What you'll get
- Replies to your texts. Updates you asked for or Rokan offered, like a new role that fits. Questions and updates about intros you agreed to. Check-ins you said yes to. Now and then, a request to tell a friend about Rokan. Rokan says it's an AI in its first text.
- How often
- Message frequency varies. Most texts are replies to you.
- Cost
- Message and data rates may apply. Rokan itself is free for people looking for work.
- Opt out
- Text STOP at any time. STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, OPTOUT and REVOKE also work. You'll get one confirmation and no more texts. Opting out also deletes what Rokan holds about you (see Privacy).
- Help
- Text HELP (or INFO) for help, or email rokan@rokan.computer.
- Where it works
- Rokan replies to numbers in the US and Canada, and to UK mobiles and numbers in some EU countries. Long answers are split into a few texts. A picture sent without any words isn't read.
- Carriers
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
- Your number
- Rokan doesn't sell your phone number or share it with anyone for their marketing. See Privacy.
Calls, email and X
- Calls. Every call starts with Rokan saying it's an AI and that the call is recorded and transcribed, and asking if that's OK. Rokan calls you only when you ask it to call you back.
- Email. Rokan's emails say it's an AI and include a one-line opt-out. Reply “unsubscribe” and Rokan deletes what it holds about you. Emails that fail standard sender checks aren't answered.
- X. Posts that mention @rokanstark, and Rokan's replies, are public. Rokan doesn't read direct messages.
Stopping
You can stop at any time: text STOP, or tell Rokan to forget you by text or email. We can change, pause or stop Rokan, or stop answering a particular sender, at any time.
Liability
Rokan is provided as is, without any promise that it will be available, accurate or fit for a particular purpose. To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost job opportunities or decisions you make based on what Rokan tells you. Nothing here limits rights you have under consumer protection laws that can't be waived.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada that apply there. Any dispute goes to the courts of Ontario.
Changes and contact
If these terms change, the date at the top changes too. Using Rokan after a change means you accept the new terms. Questions: rokan@rokan.computer.
